Reviews and comments written for the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip bullet.

Used the 160gr in 7mm Rem Mag. Have shot two elk. The first was a quartering to shot 2 years ago at 40yds minimal blood loss, did not recover animal. Used this year on a 6x6 elk, 1st shot behind the shoulder 2nd shot lower sternum. 1st shot passed through with no damage, bull walked off with blood coming out both sides. 2nd shot opened up lower chest. Tracked this bull for 4 days over 14 miles. Put three more shots directly into the chest at 20 yards before it dropped. recovered one bullet and lead was completely separated for copper jacket. Accuracy was very good off the bench, but I will never use these on elk again.

Shoot the 22 cal 50 gr in my .223 Tikka Varmint(1:8 twist). Shoot the best of anything I've tried, which is 40, 50, 55, 60 gr Ballistic tips, 52gr A-Max, 68 gr Hornady Match, 69 gr Matchkings. I have shot a few ragged one hold groups at 100 yards. Group sized of about .18". Haven't shot any game with them.

I have a Sendero .25-06 in which I've just ran two boxes of 85gr BST ammo through. The BULLETS themselves work great on groundhogs out to 150 yards(if you're lucky enough to connect-with a proven 55% success rate), very explosive with good penetration. More unfortunately, with a proven success rate of 1 out of 4 at the 200-400 yard range, I couldn't hit a bull in the but with these loads and quite frankly it wouldn't worry me or the farmer if I tried!.

I used these bullets for the first time this 2005 Wisconsin deer season. I was very dissapointed with the bullets performance and will not use them again! I shoot a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag. I had two bonus antlerless tags, so I opted to fill both opening weekend. I shot a small doe at 75 yards just behind the front shoulder. It ran in circles for 10 seconds before dropping deader than a doornail. I then shot a bigger doe at about 150 yards behind the front shoulder again, just a bit farther back than the first deer. When I got to her, she was crawling away on her belly. I had to shoot her again in the neck. Both bullets violently exlpoded on impact and made nothing but hamburger out of our venison. No exit wound on either deer, and lots of lost meat. I think I'll go back to the tried and true Remington bullets that I've taken dozens of deer with (with no exploded bullets).

I love this bullet. I bought them on a recomendation from a friend. Went out to test fire (25-06 115gr.) Shooting a flat shot at 250 with a 1 inch group. Put down a 150 lb. doe at 50 yards. The round went through her lungs and left a exit hole bigger than a silver dollar. I can't say enough about this round.
