| four months ago I made some ammo with the 220 Sierra RN in a .300 WinMag for a hunting-friend who went to africa.
While hunting there he took 1 Oryx-bull, 1 Eland-bull, 5 wildebeasts, 1 hartebeast as well as some springboks with this loading (mv was chronographed under 2800 fts).
the bullet did a very nice job on the shorter (i.e. Eland at 70 meters) as well as on the longer shooting-distances (hartebeast at 250+ meters). Though the bullet didnīt exit at all times it held together very well (for example: the bullets that were saved under the exit-sides of the eland and three wildebeasts remained over 70 % of their original-weight!). All animals that got it into the boiler-room were kept as one-shot-kills.
I think that the .300 winmag with its relativly low velocity whilest using 220īs doesnīt need really one of the "premiums" to act as a premium.... |
