| Tried these in .458 in my 1886 .45-90 a few years ago and they proved to be very accurate and deadly when loaded to 2200fps, their upper limit for controlled expansion without self destruction. At 2600 fps they will perform like a varmint bullet.
They have shot through all medium sized game, leaving large path of destruction. On one whitetail at 100 yards; it took out two ribs going in and four ribs going out. When they do run after the shot, it is not far and there is a huge blood trail. Most recent kill was this month on a leopard in Africa at about 20 yards - shot through the heart and lungs quartering away, the bullet punctured the offside shoulder and lodged under the hide, against the ground. It had expanded to twice its diameter and still weighed 290+ grains. The cat never moved after the shot - DOA. |
