Reviews and comments written for the Nosler bullet.
I found an outstanding load posted by a member using the 8mm (.323)180 Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet. I was unable to find any 200 grain bullets to use at long range in my town, but did find a box of fifty of this bullet. I engaged our steel target set to 800 yards and out of my 8mm Remington Magnum custom rifle, the bullet performed perfectly. All the ballistic tips I have tried in my firearms always shot as well as most match grade bullets. I launched this bullet at 3,400 fps out of my 30" barrel and the bullet impact could be clearly heard. The 150 pound target could clearly be seen swinging after the hit indicating the energy was transferred into the targets mass. I missed two shots that passed a couple of inches past the target and into the wet sand berm. The bullet buried itself almost a foot into the earth and mushroomed very well. 50% of the core was retained. The boat-tail was ironed out a little as well. The other missed bullet struck a rock in the damp sand and disintegrated completely. While I would never shoot a game animal at this range, the bullet did perform very well at the velocity it struck the wet sand. bullets that hit the steel plate left a small rosette of the bullet. The member who posted this load that I used noted in his remarks that he had taken many Elk with this bullet. I would use this bullet to hunt with.
