Reviews and comments written for the Northfork bullet.

Following up on the previous post, bullets are back in production in Oregon and the info is on the website. I used the 416 370gr ss on cape buffalo last year with tremendous results; 2 buffalo, 2 shots, perfect mushroom bullets. I used a 416 rem mag pushing the bullet to 2500 fps with rl15. This was the nest performing (accuracy and penetration with minimla fouling) bullet I found.

Used a 160 gr in a 280 Ack Imp loaded hot to down a 1000lb+ moose in Manitoba [Canada] at 80 yards. Bull was quartering toward me, shot went through shoulder, vitals, and into gut area, did not exit, but not recovered. Bull ran 30 yard semicircle and dropped. Had a smaller bull take a Trophy Bonded Bear Claw broadside at 12 yards from a 7mm Mag a few years earlier and that didn't exit the shoulder area either. These are tough animals. Northforks are tough bullets.

Bullets for the .404 are scarce but Mike makes an exc. 380grSP that I used in Africa to take buffalo & plainsgame. Every animal shot went down w/ one shot including my buffal. Unfotunately no bullets were recovered but accuracy & terminal perf. are all one could ask for. I plan on giving some other calibers a try.

Used the 180 grain on an Alaskan Moose at a little over 100 yards. First shot in the chest as he faced me. It was recovered under the hide after going the entire body length. PERFECT mushroom was weighed and it was 178.8 grains! Second shot was side shot thru ribs also recovered under hide on the off side made a 3" exit hole. Also used same load on a Caribou at 308 lasered yards, dropped like a rock. No recovery there. Routinely shoots under an inch off the bench at 100 yds.

I've used Mike Brady's Northfork bullets for the past 4 years in two different calibers. It is my belief the relief grooves aid in stabilizing the bullets. Results in both velocity, even the highest, and terminal performance is better than expected. The heel is a perfectly sculpted 90 degree. 7mm Dakota: .570 of an inch 5 shot groups averaging 3,277 at 100 and .915 at 200 yards from a 23" M76. 350 Rem Mag: 1.78" at 200 from the original 18" barreled 600 carbine.
