| I have a very accurate old Ruger #1V.220 Swift that likes this bullet loaded atop 43.0 gr. H-205 (no longer available) for just over 3700 fps in the 26" Ruger barrel.
The bullet's very nicely shaped and highly explosive on any varmint-size animal and has made numerous kills in the Ruger at ranges approaching 400 yds.
I've got one .22-250 that shoots this projectile very well also, though I've had a couple other varmint rifles that shot it rather indifferently, though it might have done as well with a bit of load development. |

| I use a 75 g Hornady HP in my 257 Ackley. This load has become my optimal load for groundhogs. It groups at 0.3 inches at 100 yards and no other load has matched its accuracy.
The round explodes on impact for instant kills. I have found the 75 g HP to be superior to all rounds (including the higher priced Hornadye VMAX) for groundhogs. Other rounds do not group as tightly in my gun and I have had the VMAX pass through groundhogs with little expansion whereas the HP has never failed to explode. |
