.33 Winchester

The 33 Winchester came into existence in 1902 for the Model 1886 rifle. It shoots a 200gr bullet at 2200 fps and had enough power to flatten about anything out to a couple hundred yards. Many are still cherished up in the Northern Maine Woods as a great Moose and Bear gun, especially if you can find one if the so sort after Extra Light Weight model of the 86. With carefully hand loading you can achieve .348 ballistics and the ELW 86 weighs aleast a pound less than a Model 71!

This text is based on information from “Cartridges of the World”, Hodgdon reloading manual, the cartridge designer and/or own resources.
