I took this whitetail in western Oklahoma during the 2011 season with my 7mm STW. I didn't realize his left side brow tine and G2 were busted when I shot him but he's still a nice deer.
It's a nice buck for sure! One look at the background and I can understand the STW, that's wide open there. Do you get most of your shots into those draws or across them? What's the story behind that buck?
Congratulations,
Willy
Lord help me to pass up the shots I should not take, to make the shots I should, and give me the wisdom to know the difference.
I've taken deer both in the draws and across them. I like to sit on the high spots and glass across and down into. This particular deer/shot was 558 yards across a draw. I was using my 7 STW with 140 grain Accubonds. When we first glassed him, he was standing still and not moving around much. When I actually got to him, we found he had a bullet wound about 4 or 5 inches above the hoof on his right front leg. This property is about a mile from some public hunting land. I guess someone jerked the crap out of the trigger or had some bad buck fever.
