Hey everyone! I'm reloading some .303 British. 150 grn sierra jsp .311 dia. 37 gr. H335 Hogdon, neck sized only, COAL 2.865. Does the shorter COAL pose a safety issue. Thanks for any input.

Your load is quite light. Don't worry about it. I'm sure your .303 British chamber has a long military throat that tends to lower and control pressure. Per Hodgdon, a max load is 42 gr. What OAL do you think you should be loading to? Hodgdon data says OAL is 2.995", which is just a guide. Measure your chamber's throat and then load to an OAL that fits your magazine and still is over .010" from the lands. As for these loads, shoot them up and when reloading match your ammo to your rifle.

No problems loading shorter COAL. But you have to research "finding the lands" to get a good idea on how things work.

37 gr of H-335 seem a little low but you'll be OK. Don't hesitate upping the charge weight incrementally up to 42 gr in 0.5gr steps and see what's most accurate.

Treat that trigger like it’s your first date, not like you’ve been married to it for 20 years.
