I'm starting target shooting got a 308 1-12 twist 24 inch barrel kimber 8400 patrol tactical told I'm limited to 155-168 grain heads is this true? Due to my twist?

There is plenty of charts to figure what bullet bearing area matches your twist with the highest potential for accuracy.

You may be more concerned with results than charts. If so, the 168 gr HPBT has won more matches in .308 Win. than any other bullet. Limiting yourself to that bullet would be a good choice target shooting .308 Win.

My lifetime best is in .308 Win. with the old Sierra 168 gr HPBT International Match bullet.

A variety of manufacturers make a 168 gr HBPT in .308. I don't think there is a bad one to avoid.
